LUCAS

visual artist

Gino Lucas (°1973), from Belgium, has been building an oeuvre consisting of sculptures and installations in various materials for more than twenty years. With this he seeks the confrontation between the aggression that, according to him, is deeply rooted in man and the visible consequences of this on all forms of life.

With his works, the artist asks pertinent questions about the roots of a new kind of apparently limitless human cruelty, towards animals and towards each other. A cruelty that has taken on hallucinatory proportions over the past 100 years. It seems our moral compass has lost its bearings. We seem to be losing more and more awareness of our universal, spiritual values, which determine our identity as human beings, in a society where everything is seen as relative and subjective (after Rob Riemen).
